The Challenge: Every Answer Already Exists, All of It Is Rubbish
French dog owners search constantly. Which breed fits an apartment, why is he coughing, can he eat potato, how much should a 12-kilo dog get per day.
The answers were already online, mostly on content farms with a shop bolted to the side. Breed pages copied from the same three sources, feeding advice written around a product. An owner at 11pm with a worried dog got 900 words of preamble and no number.
BBChien wanted the opposite arrangement, built to answer the question in the first screen. Which means covering the whole surface, 500 breeds and the long tail of health, food, behaviour and training questions, without the quality collapsing as the page count grows.

The Build: Templates for Scale, Editing for Trust
The breed library carries 500 pages. Each one runs off the same structure, size, energy level, origin, temperament, so a reader comparing an Australian Shepherd against a Border Collie is comparing like with like, and the filters (by size, by flat living, by origin, by FCI group) actually work across the whole set.
Then 97 guides on top, grouped into health, food, behaviour and adoption, written long where the subject needs it. Vaccination calendars, conjunctivitis, what a dog really costs per year.
The tools are the part owners keep coming back for. Four of them, each answering in one screen: a 12-question quiz that matches a lifestyle to compatible breeds, a name generator with meanings and origins, a food checker that takes an ingredient and returns a verdict with the tolerated quantity, and a ration calculator that turns weight, age, sterilisation and activity into grams per day.
Around the editorial sits a second layer. Verified listings for adoption, insurance and dog sitting, plus a professional directory, all kept structurally separate from the advice so a reader always knows which one they’re on.
The whole platform is built for search and for AI answers, which want the same thing here. Clean templates, one clear answer per page, numbers stated rather than implied, and specifics an assistant can quote without rewriting.
The Outcome: A Reference That Owners Come Back To
BBChien now covers French dog ownership end to end, 500 breeds, 97 guides, four tools, a listings marketplace and a directory of professionals, with a news desk on top.
What matters for a platform like this is whether an owner with a specific worry gets a specific answer in one screen, then comes back with the next question.
